Spotlight On - Sounds of the Universe

Sounds of the Universe first started as a stall in Camden by Stuart Baker over 25 years ago. However, whilst Camden had an allure, Baker ultimately wanted to be part of Soho’s ‘Golden Mile’ of record stores.  This refers to the area that surrounded Berwick Street in the 1990's, and became the location of Oasis’ Morning Glory album cover. During this period of time, the area was considered a mecca for record fans and collectors. Soon, Baker moved to a shopfront on Ingestre Place, before relocating to its current location stands on Broadwick Street.

The tile-front record haven has now become known for it's captivating collection of global music. The store specialises in funk, soul, electronic, reggae, and jazz, and has been connected with Baker’s record label Soul Jazz Records since it's creation in 1992. The store has also become a must-see pit stop for a range of travelling musicians, including Prince and Questlove.

Flash forward to today, and we supply Sounds of the Universe with our popular Long Handled Cotton Shopping Bag. Many of their customers wanted to be able to purchase a more permanent version of Sounds Of The Universe’s traditional plastic shopping bag. Here at UKPrinting, we printed the cotton tote-style bag using their chosen branding, in a single colour. The 4-5oz unbleached cotton shopping bag provided a great background for their design. It has also become a great item of merchandise for the company’s website. Better still, it's also the perfect size for a 12” Vinyl!
